Our extension rooms are modern some of which have patio doors to our secure garden area. We also have a quieter wing to our home which has its own bedrooms and dining/lounge facilities. This area can be secured when required and is perfect for those who need a safer, smaller environment to meet increased needs.

Our home has two main lounges and two dining rooms along with a conservatory and access to our secure garden and patio area. Maximising on space we have created seating in small areas around the home for resting or quiet time. Books and objects of interest are on these internal routes to encourage meaningful browsing. We have a small kitchen that is used for relatives if they wish to make their loved one a drink or snack. Residents also use this area to maintain daily living skills.

At orchid Woodlands our facilities have been designed to make them homely and comfortable with those with dementia. We offer specialist assessments and care plans to help manage daily life as well. We know it isn’t unusual for people with dementia to present with high levels of anxiety and complexities. We work as a team with families and outside agencies to understand and develop a range of ideas which may include simple distractions such as watching birds in the garden, playing with a balloon or listening and singing to music.

At the forefront of the work, we do is helping people to enjoy the day, the moment, their life. It’s important to us to be making new friends, new memories, and experiencing good, heart-warming relationships. We appreciate that having a loved one with dementia can be difficult, but we have learned that involving everyone, meeting regularly, sharing experiences and getting expert help is key to making a person eel more in control and understood.
